- A Secret History of Northern Ireland’s Esoteric Underground
Beneath the common history of showbands and Punk latecomers, between the chicken-in-a-basket crooners and grandiose angst-merchants, there lies an alternate timeline of Northern Irish music. Mavericks, free-thinkers and outright weirdos who strayed from the path to traverse more exotic terrain. Bold moves in an unforgiving climate that saw many confined to footnotes through moral panic, abject derision or crushing indifference.
Following extensive research over the past year, Oscillations and Factotum have unearthed a variety of documents, recordings, posters, and merchandise from bands such as Quinbus Flestrin Quartet, Parliamentary Procedures and The Anginas. Through these audio-visual artifacts this exhibition reveals the secret history of Northern Ireland’s esoteric underground.
Rudimentary have submitted this piece for the exhibition so keep your eyes peeled! To find out more about the festival and the events follow this link:
